School District #71 (Comox Valley) is a relatively small School District, with about 8,500 students from K-12, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. We have a growing reputation for undertaking innovative challenges and the use of some of the human and electronic resources needed to meet the challenges we set ourselves.
We believe that robots and robotics are here to stay. We believe that we can help students, with either an interest in robots or those wanting to explore possible careers in robotics and related areas, through the development of a sophisticated set of human and electronic resources. We have a number of very accomplished robotics and electronics teachers and volunteers in the Valley. We also have more than a decade's worth of experience in different levels of robotics and electronics competitions and our students have won a number of provincial and national titles.
However, we can do more by expanding our robotics community. People in more than 92 countries have dropped in since we first starting tracking visits to these pages (in early March 2009). We know that the users of our Robotics Pages, Career Pages and the eLibrary come from around the world.
People involved in Robotics are an interesting mix of people. They tend, whenever possible, to share and not just compete or take. This makes Robotics a positive place to be. So... consider this an invitation to come and visit and to help us build a resource that benefits both our students and our community AND your students and your community. We would welcome any comments, suggestions, or recommendations.
