The purpose of this page is to expand a student's knowledge about Robots and Robotics and link new levels of knowledge to themes and units in the BC Science and Math Curriculum and to possible career options.
BUILDING A FOUNDATION
A good foundation is always helpful. Robotics covers a wide range of ideas and skills. These links are meant to help you build the breadth and depth of your foundation:
BREADTH AND DEPTH
The things you do, in a classroom - as part of a curriculum - or following your own pathway, can introduce you to new ideas and skills. Robotics is a relatively new, but very active, field. Most of the advances in this field have been made in the last 20 to 30 years. Check out these links for some ideas on building a broader and deeper base:
PROGRAMMING ROBOTS
Check out the "Software" links (on the left side of the page). Once you've built a robot, you'll what to program it. There are a couple of links here, but we need more (so send us your finds:). To date, the focus in on Mindstorm builds and programming.
FUN / INTERESTING LINKS
Have some fun. It can be a great way to really learn something. Try these links, but, when you find something you like, send it to us.
VIDEO LINKS
We've found a few video links. More would be nice to have. Your suggestions would be welcome.
This set of web pages is meant as a starting point. Feel free to send us your suggestions.
Thanks.
